Reintroducing The Phoenix Independents Bowl – July 8 at Let It Roll Bowl
May 25, 2018Psyko Steve Presents is proud to reintroduce The Phoenix Independents Bowl, an all local bowling tournament comprised of members of Phoenix’s best bands, businesses, and independent minded citizens. The 6th Phoenix Independents Bowl will be held on Sunday, July 8th at Let It Roll Bowl, one of the only independently owned bowling alleys in Arizona.
The Indie Bowl launched in 2008, started by concert promoter Stephen Chilton of Psyko Steve Presents. The event began as a fun get together for local musicians, and has taken place sporadically over the years. The last Indie Bowl was held in 2015, and was billed as “somewhat-annual.” The 6th (now being more realistically billed as “Not-Really-Annual”) Phoenix Independents Bowl will continue to foster the spirit of community that started in that first event a decade ago.
The main goal of the Indie Bowl is bringing together musicians from all corners of the Valley’s music scene into a laid-back and fun setting. “I have always believed that there is more in common with most musicians than they realized. It is too easy for bands to get caught up in their own world and miss what is happening around them. This event is about finding the common spirit,” says Chilton of the event. “It is also a great opportunity to have fun with the staff of venues and businesses in our community that share our love of local music.”
Some of the teams signed up so far include Fairy Bones, Cornish Pasty, Crescent Ballroom, Sundressed, The Rebel Lounge, and of course a Psyko Steve Presents team (wich fully expects to keep their streak of never making the playoffs).
The tournament will feature teams of four competing for fame and glory… or at least some sweet trophies or prizes… or just for local bragging rights. Each team will bowl no less than two games before leaders advance to a playoff format bracket to determine an ultimate champion.
The proceeds of the event will go to benefit Local First Arizona, and help with their goal to make Arizona a better place by supporting locally owned businesses, and building vibrant communities that residents are proud to call home.
“We love the vibe at Indie Bowl. Not only is it fun, but it’s a great coming-together of what Arizona should be proud of – our community of talented musicians, unique business owners, and the people that support them.” says Helene Tack of Local First Arizona, or at least she did in an old version of this press release.
