MAKE IT LOUD: Hitting the Airwaves

May 8, 2019

MAKE IT LOUD is a live panel discussion series on how to make it as a new artist in today’s music industry, hosted by Stephen Chilton and Jeff Taylor of Psyko Steve Presents, featuring a curated lineup of special guests. The guests include industry figures in Arizona’s music business, as well as established musicians on a wide range of topics aimed at helping new artists learn how to navigate an ever-changing music industry.

The next discussion in the MAKE IT LOUD series, “Hitting the Airwaves,” will be a conversation about Arizona radio and the impact it has on local artists. Chilton and Taylor will be joined by guests Mo! (host of The Mo! on 93.3 Alt AZ), Marcus Meng (host of Into The Pit on 98 KUPD), and Dani Cutler (host of The Dani Cutler Show on 93.9 KWSS).

More info on the panel guests:

Mo!: Back in ’94, a mother won tickets to see Batman Forever for her daughter on a radio station. At that moment, the girl realized two things she wanted: a sweet batmobile, and to be a morning show host. Fast forward a few decades, the girl is now the host of the #1 geekiest Morning Show in Phoenix on ALT AZ 93.3, curator of local music segment Homegrown, and a mother of dragons….

Marcus Meng: After a chance encounter with Larry Mac from KUPD, Marcus started interning and eventually co-hosting his shows (Red Radio Underground, Local 98 Rock and Into The Pit) back in 2000. While working his way through the ranks of radio, Marcus began hosting Into The Pit in 2003 and plays a schizophrenic playlist of metal from bands all over the world, and even right here in Phoenix. His 16th year of hosting and producing Into The Pit starts in June.

Dani Cutler: Dani Cutler has been in radio for over 12 years, volunteering with 93.9 FM KWSS Independent Radio. She currently produces and hosts the morning show on weekday mornings, as well as managing marketing and promotions for the station. She has also owned her own digital marketing business for 6 1/2 years.

Future talks at MAKE IT LOUD will include discussions with some of the best minds in the Arizona music industry on booking shows, recording, marketing and social media, touring, management, and working with labels.
