Just Announced: Manchester Orchestra on April 18th

March 5, 2012

I am very proud to announce Manchester Orchestra will be in Arizona on Wednesday April 18th at The Crescent Ballroom in Downtown Phoenix. The band is currently touring in Australia and then will be at Coachella on April 14th and 21st. The show in Phoenix is in-between their two shows at Coachella, both weekends of which are Sold Out.

Opening the show will be Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs.

Tickets for the show go on Sale Thursday March 8th and are available at CrescentPhx.com and Stinkweeds Records. The show is presented in association with Luckyman Concerts.

Manchester Orchestras most recent album Simple Math came out in 2009. Simple Math is a concept album. As Roy Shuker defines in his book Popular Music: The Key Concepts, a concept album is a record “unified by a theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, narrative, or lyrical.” Simple Math is indeed unified by all of these. The instrumentation is big, even in its smallest moments. The composition is emotional and complex, expertly weaving music with story. The narrative is a trip through a man’s brain, through his mistakes, regrets and realizations. And the lyrics, which take us firsthand through this life-changing experience, are poetic and raw, honest and passionate.
