AJJ Introduces DESERT TRASH – February 3 at The Van Buren

January 3, 2018

Today AJJ announced DESERT TRASH, a night of music, art, skateboarding and comedy – all curated by AJJ – on Saturday, February 3rd at The Van Buren in downtown Phoenix!

The evening will be hosted by legendary funnyman Kevin McDonald of the Kids In The Hall. “Kevin wrote us a fan letter last year…” writes AJJ singer Sean Bonnette “and this was a huge deal for us. We all grew up watching Kids in the Hall, and Kevin McDonald totally helped shape our senses of humor.”

The DESERT TRASH musical lineup is stacked with some of AJJ’s friends and heroes:

From Los Angeles, California: Xiu Xiu! To quote Bonnette: “We opened up for Xiu Xiu in 2004 and they blew my mind. Since then, Jamie (Stewart) has been one of my favorite artists and songwriters, totally uncompromising. I’m so excited to see his solo set.”

Phoenix’s own Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra… “We go way back with some of the members of the Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra and it will be an honor to share the stage with them. They’re a refreshing band in these last days of guitar music.”

Also appearing at DESERT TRASH: AJJ’s beloved labelmate Chris Farren, Tucson avante-folk powerhouse Karima Walker, local favorites Sundressed, and many more to be announced.

In addition to the music and comedy on stage, DESERT TRASH will have a Pop-Up Skatepark in the parking lot provided by Cowtown Skateboards. Skaters are encouraged to come early and have some fun before the show. Beautiful artwork will be on display throughout the venue, and there will be a live screen printing demonstration from Tucson, AZ’s Tanline Printing.
